An outstanding wakazashi by the Yokoyama Shinshinto smith Sukenaga. He is listed in fujishiro as jo-Saku:

 

 SUKENAGA YOKOYAMA [TENP� 1830 BIZEN] SHINSHINT� J�SAKU

                He is the second son of Sukehira.  His older brother became the adopted son of the Sukesada Ke, and it is said that he followed in the footsteps of his father Sukehira and of his own volition called himself the grandson of Tomonari in the 56th generation, and in addition to him there are many others which have inscribed "TOMONARI GOJ�ROKUDAI MAGO" (Grandson of Tomonari in the 56th generation).  He went to his eternal rest at the age of 57 on Kaei Yonen (1851) Rokugatsu Futsuka (6/2).  His works have a jitetsu in the muji style, hamon is a nioi shimari ko-gonome choji ashi iri which is very clear.

                This is a clear hamon of nioi shimari choji ashi iri in which the jiba is strong (distinct).  (Similar smiths, Yokoyama Sukekane, Hamabe Toshinori Ha)

 Sukenaga inscribed "TOMONARI GOJ�ROKUDAI MAGO" (grandson of Tomonari in the 56th generation)

  The Sword is tempered in the classic yokoyama choji style the he and SukeKane were noted for.

  The sword is signed: � Kiku Ichi Bizen Osafune Ju Yokoyama kaga no suke Fujiwara ason Suke Naga �;

 Dated: � Tempo 9Th  year (1836) 8Th month a lucky day �;

 This swordcomes with original koshirae adorned in a variety of motifs such as farm implements, fans and tools. The tsuba looks like men making merry!!
