MORITSUGU FUKUOKA [ENP� 1673 CHIKUZEN] SHINT� J�SAKU
He is the son of Toshihira and is called Gonzobeinoj�. After his father died he learned from his elder cousin Koretsugu, he continued that Ke and changed his name to Hanbeinoj�. He died at the age of 89 on Genroku J�yonen (1701) Gogatsu Muika (5/6). His style resembles that of Koretsugu, and there are also horimono.

Hamon is gonome choji nioi shimari with thick ashi iri. Even though this is a distinctive style of Fukuoka Ishid�, at first glance it becomes a hamon like Hizen t�, and the jiba is strong and clear. (Similar smiths, �mi no Daij� Tadahiro, Hizen Masahiro)

A beautiful Shinto Katana signed by and papered to the Chikuzan smith Moritsugu this sword has a spectacular choji hamon loaded with activity. As shown in our high resolution pictures sunagashi, ashi and ko-nie pepper the length of the blade. The hada is a beautiful oily ko-itame tightly forged and the boshi is midare-komi with wisps of nie. This is a high level smith, he is rated as a Jo-saku smith. Smith at that level are very desirable to collectors for obvious resons.
A beautiful koshirae with a motif of mons that garnish the fuchi/kashira. The menuki appear to be finished in gold of asian hen. An inspiring sword mounted handsomely for the collector.
