A beautiful katana in the tradition of the Yokoyama Bizen school this sword exemplifies this late Bizen school of the Shinshinto era. As you can see in our new High Resolution photographs the hamon is an active mixture of choji/gunome with an overall notare contour. The boshi is a midare-komi. The hada is a ko-itame with ji-nie, a beautiful tight hada to accentuate the bright glowing hamon.  The papers appear to indicate because of the date that this sword was made by the shodai/first generation Sukekane.

The koshirae is a mix of stunning dragons with a gold finished habaki. Overall a beautiful sword with mounts in the Yokoyama Bizen tradition of Sukekane.

Yokoyama Sukekane was the adopted son of Yokoyama Sukemori, and was trained by the famous Yokoyama Sukenaga of the Shinshinto Bizen School. Sukenaga inscribed on the tang of his swords Tomonari GojoRoku-Dai Mago meaning that he was the 56th generation descendent of the Tomonari Bizen tradition. Sukekane also followed in this tradition by inscribing he was the 58th generation of that line.
