This shinto sword is almost 30" long and is very strong and has an elegant shape.  It is signed hizen tadayoshi and we feel it is gimei/not a authentic signature.  We could be wrong but it is our opinion.  This however is a true antique samurai sword made around 1600-1700's and this is evident from its style and quality.  The hamon is very nice and rich looking with many ashi and is nio based.  The hada is course in places but overall is sound.  One very good point also on this sword that should be noted is the mounts.  These mounts are very elegant and have a very true samurai feel to them.  This must have been a sword that was carried and worn proudly.  The saya lacquer is of very good quality and is in very good shape and completely original to the blade.  The handle also is in great shape for it's age.  The "same" or ray skin is actually black lacquer as is the tsukamaki or wrapping.  It also is lacquered.  The overall feeling of this mounting style is not flashy but has a beautiful deep honest quality and beuty to them.
