This is the only Shinshinto Masachika listed in the Meikan.  He was in the Mosokawa Masayohi Mon.  He lived in Hachioji (Musashi no Kuni), and his family name was Sakai.  He is the same person as MASACHIKA 正近。

This exquisite katana is made by Masachika of Musachi province. The very high quality of this sword is very self evident, just take a look at the photos.  The hada is milky and very rich looking.  It is forged tightly and is a pleasure to view in hand.  the hamon is also very active with hataraki but a note should also be made on the well defined habuchi and its elegant beauty.  This is a fine sword.
