This is an edo period Tanto in very high quality gold foil mounts.  The blade is very simple and is unsigned.  The quality of the tanto is about average and a true samurai tanto.  The mounts on the other hand are very high quality.  The handle has been papered and has received the higher kantei-sho papers from the NTHK.  This is a very elegantly mounted tanto and will display very beautifully.
