TADAKUNI SHINANO NO DAIJÔ SHODAI [KAN'EI 1624 INABA] SHINTÔ JÔSAKU
He is called Yamamoto Hichirôdayû, and is in the Dewa no Daijô Kunimichi Mon. In the beginning he signed as KUNIKATSU, and then as TOKIKUNI. In the beginning of Kan'ei he moved to Inshû and changed to TADAKUNI. He is said to have received the title of Shinano no Daijô in Kan'ei Jûichinen (1634) Hachigatsu, and he died in Kanbun Rokunen (1676). Even though his works generally resemble those of Kunimichi, nioi shimari suguba and notare ha are seen from his later years. (Wazamono)

This is a rare Tanto by a good swordsmith, you will find many Tanto in the koto and shinshinto era but in the shinto period they are very few. The need for tanto diminished and very few were made. Tadakuni is very highly ranked and the beauty of this Tanto is self-evident. The hada has a profuse amount of activity and is very beautiful and flawless. The hamon has sunagashi, ashi and many more hataraki. This is the finest blade that I have seen from this Tadakuni. This is not an average tanto. it comes with two sets of papers, a high level Kanteisho from the NTHK and a Very high level Tokubetsu paper from the NBTHK.
